About This Place

Early Bird Cafe, nestled on Orchard Lake Road in Keego Harbor, Michigan, is a beloved breakfast restaurant that truly celebrates the art of the morning meal. Known for its satisfying American breakfast fare, this cozy spot serves up a diverse menu designed to please early risers and breakfast enthusiasts alike. From savory skillets to sweet French toast, the culinary offerings are thoughtfully crafted to deliver freshness, flavor, and comfort.

Step inside Early Bird Cafe, and the first thing that greets you is a warm, bustling atmosphere—the kind that signals a local favorite. While the space is intimate and seating sometimes limited, it only adds to the charm and makes every visit feel like part of a tight-knit community. Diners appreciate the friendly, albeit occasionally slow initial greeting, but the service quickly balances out with genuine care and attentiveness once seated.

The menu shines with an impressive variety of breakfast classics and inventive twists. Fans rave about the Skillet Breakfasts, which are hearty and loaded with flavors: the Country Skillet pairs fluffy eggs with your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage alongside onions, green peppers, potatoes, and a generous topping of melted cheddar cheese, served with toast or a biscuit. For those craving something truly savory, the Hobo Skillet dazzles with corned beef hash, perfectly cooked eggs, and cheddar, all harmonizing in one hearty dish.

For a taste of the sweeter side, Early Bird Cafe’s Challah French Toast is a standout — rich, slightly sweet, and dusted with powdered sugar, it’s served with whipped butter and warm syrup, promising a melt-in-your-mouth experience. Pancake lovers will appreciate the option between classic and multigrain pancakes, both fluffy and served with whipped butter and syrup, catering to a variety of tastes.

Signature dishes like the Eggs Benedict come elegantly plated with perfectly poached eggs, ham, and velvety hollandaise sauce atop an English muffin. Variations featuring crab or lox add a luxurious twist for those wanting to indulge a little more. The Early Bird Supreme, a substantial platter of three eggs, sausage, bacon, ham, and potatoes, provides a fulfilling start to any day.

Many patrons have expressed delight in the quality and consistency of their meals. Mina A highlights the “delicious” flavors and appreciates the “friendly” service, particularly enjoying the chicken sausage in the special skillet and perfectly poached eggs. Victor S pinpoints the skillets and French toast as Early Bird’s shining stars, complimenting the quick and courteous service amid a cozy environment.

The atmosphere, while bustling and sometimes tight, carries a genuine friendliness and warmth that’s hard to find elsewhere. Kai Feuerstake aptly calls Early Bird Cafe “A Gem for Breakfast Enthusiasts,” noting the lively vibe as a testament to its dedication to high-quality food and service. Even during busy Sunday mornings, the team manages the crowd efficiently, rewarding guests with excellent dishes and memories worth returning for.

Early Bird Cafe is much more than just a restaurant; it’s a morning ritual for many who crave not only delicious food but a sense of connection and community. Roosters will take over. This is popular spot for the early crowd, it is a small local favorite and space is limited. When I first walk in I just get stared at because some of the staff does not speak English. It takes about 5 minutes before I am officially greeted. Someone just left as I came in but there might be a wait for a table at times. The service and food were good. The fresh squeezed orange juice was amazing.

Loved our breakfast. Everything was delicious and service was very friendly. We kept saying “this is so good” about 4 times during our meal. Loved the chicken sausage from the special skillet today and the poached eggs were exactly how I wanted them. All in all, wonderful breakfast and we’ll be sure to come back! The only reason I gave 4 stars for the atmosphere is because it’s a little tight but that also adds to its charm.

The Skillet's and French Toast are where this place shines! Great service in a small cozy environment. Quick service when you get seated. Sundays are busy so get there with time to spare because it's worth it! Thank you for the memories and great food and service!

So this is my second time coming to this place since the pandemic. My wife and I came in there before and it was packed lots of people there seemed a very inviting place. I come in there this morning right when they first open and I noticed right off the bat that the place is very clean and the atmosphere is very friendly. My waiter Misa was a very nice individual and professional. My only drawback would be the food that I ordered was not that good. Last time I came with the wife I had the breakfast skillet and it was amazing! But eating my steak that I bought I realized there was a lot of fat and Gristle on the side of the steak. Which kind of took away from the experience of eating steak and eggs. Also the hash browns I asked to be cooked a little bit crispy they were just a little bit crispy barely at all. The bathroom was very nice the only problem in there was it was incredibly small. So if somebody is bigger perhaps they would have a difficult time going in there.. overall the restaurant was nice. I drove to three different places to find a place that was open for breakfast. I was very fortunate to find this place. But the portion as well as the steak itself was average. I love the sausage links as they were huge! Definitely will come back again to see what the next adventure holds for me. Otherwise an okay place to eat if you're hungry. Another thing for the price that I paid for the meal I expected a little bit better. Sorry for the lengthy review but I try to be as honest as possible. The one positive thing was the server was very professional and friendly and helpful. Just work on a couple of those things and I think overall the next experience will be even better.

A Gem for Breakfast Enthusiasts The Early Bird Café, located on the picturesque Orchard Lake in Michigan, is a bustling hotspot for breakfast aficionados. Despite a 25-minute wait time due to its popularity, the café offers a rewarding experience with its efficient service and delectable American breakfast options. The lively atmosphere is a positive indicator of the café’s high standards and community approval. Even amidst the hustle, the service is commendable, with food arriving swiftly and staff maintaining a friendly demeanor. It’s a must-visit for those seeking a hearty meal and a warm welcome. The Early Bird in Northville is owned by their son in law and (from my point of view) a little bit better.

This place is the very definition of a family restaurant. With its delicious, homemade breakfast dishes, very friendly, personable staff, and extremely fast service, it made the 15 minute wait time to be seated worth the trip. Come early if you want to be seated quickly Highly recommend!
